Light ADL Launch Party for Delicious and American Express Month Out

Serving sweetness and light.

A bespoke dinner curated by Light ADL for American Express delicious. Month Out in Adelaide will see art, music and gastronomy collide in a swirling mix of colour that draws inspiration from the South Australian countryside.

The progressive Adelaide Lights Up feast on May 24 kicks off in the high-tech hospitality hub with cocktails and canapes in The Lab, before progressing to Aurora restaurant and on to The Light Room for wacky Willa Wonka-inspired petit fours and sweets. Head chef Sam Cooper says the multi-course feast will be the ultimate “dinner and show”.

“Aurora is not a fine diner; it’s a fun diner. We’re going to take guests on a little journey. They will discover new dishes along the way that highlight what we do, our style, and our approach to social responsibility,” Cooper says.

The special dinner will also showcase all the sights, sounds and immersive technology produced by the in-house artists within the multi-tiered space. Cooper says as well as highlighting top quality ingredients, the event will celebrate the artists that Light ADL supports. He adds that the scenes of the surrounding countryside beamed on to giant LED screens as each course progresses will also demonstrate the chefs’ passion for provenance.

“Our mission at Light ADL is to reinvigorate and support the arts in South Australia, so the profits from our restaurants and our events go toward funding the arts. Adelaide Lights Up will be a nod to the sort of hybridisation of arts and hospitality that we have here,” Cooper says.

Guests at Adelaide Lights Up can expect to be offered a cocktail on arrival and to be taken through to The Lab where they will enjoy canapes of Kutjera cured kangaroo and Coffin Bay oysters while surrounded by shifting light and soundscapes. Vivid scenes and a pumping soundtrack will also form the backdrop to the two courses served in Aurora: spiced coral mushrooms with gnocchi and smoked hay cream, and mountain-peppered lamb with shiso and yoghurt.

To finish, customers will be led through an arts gallery before arriving at The Light Room where petit fours and sweets will be served while surrounded by pools of light and sound.

Nic Mercer, CEO of the not-for-profit Light ADL, says Adelaide Lights Up will be a feast for the senses in a place where people go to eat well and do good.

“This event is an opportunity to create an immersive dining experience that will showcase to the people of Adelaide and beyond what we do. It’s about storytelling, and it’s a cinematic experience. We will also have a few surprises up our sleeve in the way of live entertainment.”
