Virtual Production @ Light ADL
Located in Adelaide’s CBD at The Light Room Studio is an accessible entry level space for virtual production. Our film / TV production studio is an open source R&D facility in mixed reality and virtual production. It is not a NantStudios or a Disney Production site, and unfortunately you won't be able to film The Mandalorian or an Avengers movie here, however, The Studio is perfect for shooting campaign and product shoots, film pick ups, short films, documentaries, music videos and more. The Studio is a key part of Light ADL's quest to give all creators access to world class technologies.
The 150sqm of 2.6mm pitch Dicolor LED screens stretching 4m high around a 20m wide room in a circle configuration serves as a blank canvas, making it the ideal space for filmmakers, cinematographers and other creatives to begin utilising virtual production and mixed reality filming techniques within an accessible and supportive environment. The Studio Screens are equipped with 10-Bit colour, allowing the LED to output 1.07 billion colour hues. The Studio will also allow Light ADL to begin collaborative, open source R&D sprints that test how depth sensors, body tracking, AI, spatial audio and real-time interactive digital environments can combine to create performance experiences that have never been seen before.
Our multi-purpose large scale LED volume can be used to create responsive, photo-realistic digital worlds, replacing the need for green screens and acting as a background, resulting in an efficient and effective way to create sets and backdrops for television or film, live streaming and digitally immersive experiences. Previous use cases have included music videos, documentary filming, advertising commercials, virtual filmmaking and brand campaign photography.
